Heather Russell is joining up with TransUnion as its Chief Legal Officer and Executive Vice President. Before making the decision to work with TransUnion, she was a partner with the law firm Buckley Sandler, LLP., where she worked at, both, their New York, NY location as well as their Washington DC offices. She had been with the firm since 2016 and served as its head of Financial Institutions Regulation, Supervision & Technology. This was known as First practice, which worked with clients that included banks, Fintech operations, and financial service institutions.
Heather Russel has years of experience dealing with the exact kinds of issues she will be helping TransUnion with. Before working with Buckley Sandler, she worked with Fifth Third Bank, Bank of America, and Bank of New York Mellon in many different executive roles. She has also worked with the well-known law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, & Flom, LLP. She served in the firm’s Washington, DC and London, UK office and spent a lot of her time sorting out the financial services and corporate finance aspects of the firm. She now brings more than twenty years of experience with her to TransUnion where she will surely be an asset.
Heather Russell attended the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Biology. She continued her studies at American University’s Washington College of Law in Washington, DC where she graduated cum laude with her J.D. She earned the title “Most Outstanding Graduate” while there and served Boston University’s School of Law as an adjunct professor. Heather Russell will be taking over for John Blenke who will helping her to ease into her new job before he is set to retire. Many people expect Russell to do an excellent job and look forward to working with her.
