JD.com is an online platform which is used to conduct business transactions, mainly buying and selling of products. It was founded by the international businessperson from China known as Richard Liu Qiangdong who is a master’s holder in Computer Science and Programming form the International University of China and Europe. JD is one of the highly prolific online business in China. It was established in the year 2003, but its history tracks back to 1998.
Before being an online business platform, JD.com was a physical mall based in Beijing. The mall was known as 360 buy and used to be the only supplier and retailer of magneto-optical products. It was founded in 1998 by Richard Liu Qiangdong and his wife, and the mall was doing well. By 2002, it had developed into 20 more stores across the country. The following year the performance of the business was compromised by the SARS epidemic which was experienced in the entire country. In the recent company’s blog “JD Delivery Stations Get Smart Ahead Of CES Debut”, JD has talked about the launch of two smart delivery stations in the cities of Changsha and Hohhot, strengthening the e-commerce giant’s autonomous logistics capabilities.
Early this year, JD.com launched a delivery system of high technology in Indonesia. It introduced the drone lift in the country, and the launching process was witnessed by the Indonesian ministry of transports, civil navigation, and Aviation. They also approved the drone lifts. The event took place in Jagabita village where the flight started, and it landed at Parung Panjang village in a school known Mis Nurul Falah Lees Elementary School. The parcel it delivered at the school was a donation of books and bookpacks. JD.com began his operations in Indonesia in the year 2016 together with another e-commerce company known as Jv.com.
