Success in the New York real estate real estate industry depends on many things, including luck, timing, and a sense of where the market is headed. Those who do well are able to capitalize on a combination of all those things. Arthur Becker, who is currently celebrating the completion of his first “from the ground up” project at 564 Washington Street, is an investor who has been able to use all those assets to make a success for himself in real estate.

Arthur Becker was married to designer Vera Wang for 20 years, and though they are now separated, their mutual interest in art is also a big part of what brought them together. This appreciation for the arts is another important facet of Becker and his career. In his home he has a collection of paintings and sculptures, and he also has his own working studio. Becker’s insight into markets is what started his current career in real estate. Back in the early 2000s he invested in three startup companies that became profitable. He used those profits to begin his career in real estate, and it’s been all up from there.

Acting as a Silent Partner

His first couple of projects in New York was partnerships. They included the 10 Sullivan Street condo project, in which he acted as a silent partner. His partners from that successful condo development eventually bought out his share of the project, and traded him three adjacent buildings in the deal. Becker plans on selling off two of the buildings and then living in the third. Visit Ideamensch to know more.

His success as an investor has paved the way for more projects to come. With more good luck and good timing on his side, there’s no doubt we’ll be seeing more successful projects from Becker as the market here continues to heat up.
